Conservative Prime Minister between 1955 and 1957, Eden was awarded the Military Cross during World War I, and elected MP for Warwick and Leamington in 1923. He was a highly effective Foreign Secretary during a period of immense international tension. As Prime Minister, Eden’s support of Anglo-French intervention in the Suez Crisis of 1956 lost him support.
